Current Redbridge Leader, Cllr. Keith Axon dies, age 57. Submitted: 05 Feb 2003 The current Leader of Redbridge Council, Cllr. Keith Axon, died on Sunday 2 Feb. Keith was admitted to hospital on Christmas Eve because of a brain tumour. Keith was a councillor for Redbridge for 29 years and died just 9 months after coming into power. Councillor Axon’s funeral is at the City of London Crematorium on Monday, February 10th at 2.15pm. A Memorial Service will also be held for him in the Town Hall, Ilford on Wednesday, February 26th. A Book of Condolence is being placed in the reception area at the front of the Town Hall for anyone who would like to sign it.
