I found this site looking for any mention of The Ilford Road Club. A cycling club. I lived in Beehive lane from 1938 to 1951. Where I went to Highlands School and Danes. I was amazed to see from othrs that Mr Cummings was still the head of Highlands in the 70's. Thank you for an intersting site.

Hi I just dropped in to have a browse around this site. I was born in Brisbane Road, Ilford, in 1972. My family moved to Salisbury, Wiltshire in 1975, but I've always wanted to know more about where I come from. Hopefully, I can find out more here. I'm amazed to hear people talking about Highlands on this site, as that's where my older brother and sister went to school in the late sixties / early seventies! Thanks.

I was staying in Ilford for month and a half. Had a wonderful experience, went every Sunday to St Peter and Paul Church, very lovely. I am from Croatia.

My grandfather was born in Ilford in 1894. He left for Australia aged 14 alone. He never forget his roots and returned when he was in his 50s and 60s. I live in Kent at present but will return to Australia one of these days.

I left Ilford in 1969 with my Mom, just before war broke out. I was 9yrs old My school in Ilford was Meath school, head was Miss Fenn my teacher was Mrs Osbourne. It was a private school. My Mom Dad and I lived at 11 Mortlake Road. I have got some beautiful memories of that time. Our next door neighbour was a Mrs Haribo with a daughter called Gert. On the other side was a Mrs Blair who lived with her son dave. Would like to see Ilford again but I think my travelling days are over.
