- 92 year old marathon runner to be famous
Fauja Singh, the 92 year old marathon runner from Ilford will be starring in TV adverts as part of the Adidas 'Impossible is Nothing' campaign. One of the adverts involving a young Muhammad Ali have already been shown. [Add your comment]
- Child abducter on the loose
A ginger-haired man is at large who is accused of trying to abduct 3 children since January. A notice that has been given to bus companies reads 'Police are currently asking all bus drivers to pay attention to any adult white males with ginger hair who travel on the bus alone. If the driver sees anyone fitting this description talking to, watching or following children either on to or from the bus they should take steps to alert police...'. Presumably people have been taking this a little too far - police add 'We are not asking to be informed of every ginger man that uses the buses'

- Woodford Green based teenage hacker walks free
A teenager from Woodford Green who caused a full-scale alert at a US nuclear weapons laboratory by hacking into it walked free from court. Two years ago, the student, now 18, developed software to crack in to it to use its storage and bandwidth capacity to share files like films and music with his friends. He admitted unauthorised modification of computer material andreceived 200 hours community service. [Add your comment or read 1 from others]
- Ilford woman gives birth to own grandchildren
A 43 year old woman gave birth to her own grandchildren. Through IVF treatment she because a surrogate mother for her daughter. The parents of the twins live in Ilford but the woman gave birth in India.

- Ilford loses monopoly on woolly mammoth finds
The skull of a woolly mammoth measuring 5ft long has been found in a gravel pit in the Cotswolds. The species became extinct 10,000 years ago. This is the second found in Britain, with the first being found in Ilford in the 19th century. [Add your comment]
