Hmm. . . Well, i'm not proud to be from Ilford anymore if ever i could've been. I dont understand how one could be, knowing what it's like around there these days. I know I probably sound like an old crusty but it just ain wha i yoosta be. It's a miserable little town. I feel sadder about the place each time i pass through it and i'm not even sure anymore weather or not it's gotten worse over time or if it's just that i can see the place much more clearly these days now it's from a distance. It's a tip and generaly the people around there seem in some way depressed or irritable by natural default. However, i actually miss the place from time to time. Miss the stroll- or ride- from the Belgrave rd entrance of Wanstead park through to... Anywhere it came out. The old library. the new one. My old primary school St. Peter & Pauls, even though having to go there was a demoralising experience. The Cauliflower pub. The Old Angel pub. The Island club! The old Magic And Fun joke shop that sadly isn't there anymore like so many other things that gave Ilford that certain something! Walking along that dodgy iron bridge that crosses the railway from the old high st to the back of Leigh st, behind the Bell pub. Each to thier own. There are so many other things i miss about the place that a part of me still feels at home there. I acknowledge with a some what bitter chill that I and it will always be, in some twisted way or other, a part of each other. Another sucker for nostalgia...

Nice city, exotic, vibrant, even hot weather !, many Indians and Pakistanis that are just adorable, wonderful indian food, a trip to Asia and to feel safe in a poor borough of London, just great, except the regret there is not enough management of the bins and wastes that are almost dangerous for health in some streets, even if it reinforces the exotism of the place, for sure! Hey folk, be more responsible and tidy, respect the streets, the roofs the neighbours and your children playing in the streets, take care of your waste and recycle and swip and wash, thanks... And then really other Europeans like me will be very delighted to visit the place, sleep in, eat in or visit Ilford's small hotels, shops and restaurants!
