| The problem with tackling the criminal elements in Ilford is that it requires either possible infringements of their "human rights" or running the risk of being labelled racist, and this is something the local authorities lack the courage to do. As a result, the gangs are gradually taking over the streets. The police are not interested in preventing crime - they only show up afterwards and go through the motions. |

| Ilford isnt what it used to be.. sorry the place is beautiful but spoilt by the growing numbers of crimals in the area. Shame. |

| I've just read 'to 1951. Where I went to Highlands School and Danes. I was amazed to see from othrs that ... Cummings was still the head of Highlands in the 70's.' However, I was at Highlands 1958 to 1964 and I'm sure that I remember Mr Cummings retiring and being given a gramaphone player as his leaving present by Mr Bristow (I cannot remember which year though) |

| I've lived in Ilford all my life and it would feel odd to live anywhere else, but the downside is that Ilford is becoming really unsafe, you can't really go out alone without feeling like someone is gonna attack you or something... |
