- Man finds pork chop and leg of lamb in river!
The most LPUNTIFPN story for a long while (local-paper-uninteresting-news-turned-into-front-page-news), from Ilford this year, a man walking his dog finds pork chop and leg of lamb in river.
This has been transformed into a remarkable piece of sensationalist journalism and made front page news in the Ilford Sun.
In summary, a man fished out one of six parcels he spotted floating in the river as he was walking his dog. As his birthday was a long way off, he decided to open it. Looking inside, he found some tasty leg of lamb but got excited that he may have found a dismembered body so he phoned the police. The River Roding was then sealed off, causing much disruption to fish who were turned away as they tried to cross the Police Line. Divers and a helicopter were called in to search the area. The packages were later found to be pork and lamb, most likely dumped by a trader. A Redbridge Council spokesperson said 'it is an extremely unsociable thing to do'. The man was unavailable for comment when asked if he had a tasty dinner that evening.

- Thieves broke into Ilford Town Hall!
8pm Tuesday at Ilford Town Hall, just after the council's Labour cabinet was discussing crime and disorder in the building, thieves let themselves in through an open first floor window into the Labour office and stole documents.

- Local kids in new pop-group!
In another nail in the coffin for live music and singer-songwriters, a new much media-hyped manufactured pop-group, S Club Juniors has been formed. Two of the eight pre-teen actors in the band come from the area, one from Chigwell and one from Chadwell Heath. I wonder if they will be popular after their voices break? Can you imagine their performances while they are breaking!?!
