- David Bellamy comes to Ilford on Saturday December 1st!
David Bellamy will be in Ilford on Saturday December 1st! He is to open a garden which was previously an allotment. You can join him at 11am on 1st December in Pretoria Road, Ilford.

- Ilford showing early signs of decline?
A report has been produced after the 6 month study into the future of Ilford Town Centre. It proposes ideas to keep it up to date. Some proposals include having a continental type town square and to bring more housing into the area. The Strategy and Partnership Scrutiny Committee said that Ilford is showing early signs of decline 'through the number of pound shops moving in and the slow uptake of leases'.

- The proposed racecourse decision may take more months!
The proposed racecourse on Green Belt land in Fairlop, still may or may not become reality. A public enquiry was completed in June and a report submitted in September, but it would take 20 weeks for Lord Falconer, the minister responsible for housing and planning, to receive the report. Developers Wiggins hope to build the 10,000 seat grandstand by Spring 2004. The plans have been fiercely opposed by residents. [Add your comment or read 1 from others]

- Haven House for terminally ill youngsters stays!
I will spare you the rather pathetic headline puns some of the newspapers have for this story. The worst is probably 'Haven sent!'. Anyway, Haven House, the hospice for sick and dying youngsters, is to stay. The council called in repayment of the lease last month and was in grave danger of closing. After a crisis meeting, an anonymous person as come forward to be guarantor, therefore the place will stay as it is.
