  • Santa spotted already?
    Redbridge Mayor, Cllr Alan Weinberg was out and about to a primary school. The kids mistook him for Father Christmas with his red gown and beard. Once they got over their disappointed he was subjected to a barrage of questions, including whether or not he wore his robes in bed, and whether or not he wore his gold chain of office in the bath. Other news: A girl from Clayhall has been nominated for the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year. She is 13 years old but has won 200 trophies.

  • An armed car-jacking gang struck four times in Redbridge in the same night
    An armed car-jacking gang struck four times in Redbridge in the same night. Number 1 was in Woodford Green at 6:50pm. A woman was forced to hand over her Renault Megane. Number 2 was in Hainault when a man was threatened with a handgun when he was walking to his car. They stole his Ford Focus. Number 3 was in Woodford Green again at 8:35pm to steal a Volkswagen Golf. Number 4 was outside Woodbridge high School, Woodford Green as an MG was stolen. In three of them, the robber engaged in a conversation with the driver to determine if they were vulnerable or not.

  • Neil and Christine Hamilton documentary partly filmed in Ilford to be shown soon.
    On August 11th we reported that on May 5 this year Neil and Christine Hamilton were alleged to have taken part in a serious sexual assault at a property in Ilford. They have since been completely cleared of any involvement.
    They were coincidentally being filmed by Louis Theroux, shadowing the couple for his documentary series and followed them to Barkinside police station where they were arrested. This is to be screened on Tue 11 December. There may be lots of shots of Barkingside High Street!

  • This week's news in brief!
    A teenager who mad a hoax call to police on September 11th to report a fictional missing person in the WTC attack, has been told by district judge Mr Gillibrand that is was 'almost inevitable' that he would go to jail for it. The teenager said his serious depression lead him to do it. He will face final sentence possible on December 6th.
  • Acting head teacher of Oakdale Junior school has dies from cancer at the age of 48. Gareth Brooke-Williams was taken ill in July. He had also worked at Highlands Primary School and Cleveland Junior School.
