  • News snippets for week ending July 26th!
    A gang of 10 teenage youths, ages about 14, wrecked an allotment during a 15 minute attack at Forest Farm Allotments in Haunault. There have been previous attacks which resulted in the gang threatening gardeners with bricks and shovels. They smashed greenhouses, killed fish and wrecked a lawnmower.
  • A school pupil who has not had a day off since Oct 1997 and one who has attended every lesson since April 1998 have been awarded Good Attendance certificates at Goodmayes Primary School.
  • Former Beal High School pupil Nicole Chaffer is a holiday rep in Ibiza. No ordinary rep because she features on the regular Sunday showing of the Sky TV programme 'Reps in Ibiza'.
  • Richard Dahler, 19, got on a 129 bus at Claybury Broadway then shortly screamed and fell on the floor. He died in hospital.

    An alter boy's robes caught fire during a church service as he brushed past a candle in a church in Cambridge Road, Wanstead.
  • Ronnie O'Sullivan's drink-drive trial has had complications again. The magistrate is said to have allegedly winked at a reporter so had to stand down.

  • This week's news in brief!
    Around 20 people from Beehive Court in Beehive Lane had to be evacuated when a gas leak was discovered.
  • Carly Hillman (aka Nikki from Eastenders) attended the "Bridging the gap" festival as a special guest, in Ray Park, Woodford Green. About 3000 people were there.
  • Flashing warning lights are to be fitted to the railway bridge at Fairlop Station because two lorries in the last nine weeks had hit it due to it being quite low.

  • Three girls attacked in the Gants Hill subway by the station
    As three girls returned home after celebrating a 21st birthday, they were attacked. The white girls, aged 17, 19 and 21 were pushed to the ground, punched and kicked in the head and stomach. One had her top ripped off. Two good samaritans who tried to stop them were also set upon, one received a bite to the arm. This happened in the early hours of Thursday 5 July as they walked through Gants Hill subway. The gang fld the scene towards the westbound Eastern Avenue. Know anything about this?   • Close escape when lorry toppled over inches from a lady!
    Close escape when lorry toppled over inches from where a lady was in her car. Rachel Wilson was in her car at her home near Fairlop Station. An articulated lorry crashed into the Fairlop tube station bridge and 'bounced' off it, falling on its side. "It took me three quarters of an hour to stop shaking".
