  • This week's news snippets!
    As drinkers enjoyed their pints at The George, Wanstead, a crack suddenly appeared in a pillar. All customers were evacuated immediately. The damage is not serious and has been repaired and is now declared safe.
  • Mystery man found dead in the underpass between High Road, Ilford and Station Road. Death not being treated as suspicious.
  • Man robbed of his laptop while he conducted markey research in Stoneycroft Road, Woodford Bridge.
  • Posters for a concert in aid of Whipps Cross Hospital were taken down by a hospital administrator just after they were put up! They were unhygenic and and was violating the anti-litter policy, he/she said. As a result not many people turned up.
  • Looks like a 30ft BT Cellnet mobile phone mast will be going up in the corner of Clayhall Avenue and Tiptree Estate. A council spokesperson said "The council can only reject the application on siting and design, not on health grounds or any other reason." If that's correct, haven't we got a serious problem here??? I bet I'd be put in prison if I decided to place a 30ft tower of my own, however nice it looked! - Ed

  • Blonde woman goes jogging..IN THE NUDE
    A mid-40 year old blonde woman was arrested by police after she was found jogging in the nude in broad daylight. She ran up and down Beehive lane, annoying shoppers. Drivers slowed down to watch. She was later released without charge. She had been drinking heavily.

    Go to Valentines Park this weekend. The Redbridge Show is here again.

    The attractions this year include:

  • Classic car show
  • Tiny tot play area
  • Huge craft fair
  • Loads of council run exhibits
  • Preformances from The Corrz (a trubute band), and an Asian concert featuring Gents Hill singer Shahin Badar, who has worked with The Prodigy and had her vocals on the recent Charlie's Angel's movie.

  • Benefits cheat jailed for fraud worth £250,000
    Nigerian born Abdul Bello of Ashgrove Road was jailed after pleading guilty to 25 charges of false accounting and deception. He had up to 300 different identities, used to apply for credit cards and benefit awards. He is said to have stolen letters from bins to get the names and addresses for credit card applications.

  • Robber forces woman to buy jewellery
    Robber forces woman to buy jewellery. She initially refused to buy. She then withdrew money from a cashpoint and was confronted again, the robber saying "Take the jewellery, give me the money you've drawn out or I'll knife you.". She handed over the £80 she had and the robber gave her a bangle.
